The NAMM show in Los Angeles is closed now and we like to inform you about a lot of interesting news. Some new products are already shipping or on their way to Munich, like Sonivox "Playa" (Hip Hop Instrument), East West "Silk" (Ethno Library) and "RA Play Edition". Some more will ship in March: the sensational VSL "Vienna Imperial" piano with up to 1200 samples and 100 velocities per key, Vir2 "Mojo" (horn sections) or the long awaited Symphonic Choirs Play Edition" by East West. In the VSL demo-cube we were able to see and hear a real working version of MIR (a Multiple-Impulse Response Convolution Engine incl. a complete mixing unit) which will be shipped later in 2009.
If you could not attend the NAMM show you will have the next opportunity in watching an overwhelming MIR demo at Musik Messe Frankfurt in the VSL cube (hall5.1 next to the Best Service booth). Wallander Instruments announced Saxophones 1 & 2 collections to be released in February/March, extending their range of instruments again and offering a sample free technology with sensational results in expression and playability. Unfortunately we have to wait until mid of May when Spectrasonics will release TRILIAN the successor of Trilogy based on their new Steam Engine. A new Omnisphere update is available for free at www.spectrasonics.net immediately and the update to Stylus RMX 1.7 will be available in March totally free as well.
Rob Papen announced SubBoomBass a very low priced (euro 99,-) Deep Bass Synth which is characterised by a fat sound, easy user interface and a tricky groove sequencer a MUST for Hip Hop producers! (Shipping February) Good news for RG users: version 1.1 includes pretty nice distorted guitar sounds and will be available as a free update to all registered RG users in February.
Gary Garritan announced the 4th edition of his Personal Orchestra, and Orchestral Strings 2 the sequel to the award-winning Garritan Orchestral Strings (based on the Aria Engine), and a new World Instrument Library. East West lowered the list prices of almost all existing "Play" products after the NAMM show.
