Good producers swear by their own mix of mellow beats, spheric pads and acoustic instruments. But what when the inspiration leaves you? Since mid June 2008 is a collection available full of ideas and inspiration especially for lounge music. It‘s called LouneOramA, comes from Ueberschall and was produced by the talented Danya Vodovoz. Ueberschall isn‘t an unknown player in the sample scene at all. The production of „Easy Listening“ a few years ago proofed that the team from Hanover has a good taste for chilled music. The new product LoungeOramA isn‘t completely different in style but convinces with a completely different handling. The Elastik-Player (VST, AU, RTAS and Standalone) allows you to change tempo and pitch and to create loop-variations. Body and soul was used to produce. No wannabe-cool soundscapes but lively e-pianos, real recorded guitars, bass and vintage synths and grooves are within the 880 loops and samples on this DVD. 20 construction kits that are moving between latin, jazz and soul and a touch of electronica. All tonal and rythmical elements are delivered seperately. That allows you to pick out the best parts and create your own arrangments. The special thing about the kits is the length of more than a minute. (...) In contrary to many contemporary trend-productions the library is not completely loop based. This 1.7GB sample collection from Ueberschall’s Nouvelle series comes wrapped in the company’s Elastik virtual instrument in multiple plug-in formats for Mac and PC (there’s also a standalone version). This system, as we have remarked before, brings both pros and cons: the instrument has some onboard controls for modifying the samples, which some will find useful, but on the other hand, you can’t access the raw samples, so you’re sort of tied to using it.

The library comprises 880 loops, all beautifully recorded, in the styles of lounge, downtempo and electronica and gentle Latin vibes. These are collected into 20 construction kits covering intros, outros, verses and refrains. Stylistically it’s very much along the lines of St Germain, Thievery Corporation and Morcheeba’s quieter moments, with a healthy dose of bossa nova and mambo thrown in for good measure.

Each kit contains three sections: the drums, backing and a mixture of both. Within each section are multiple samples where the constituent instruments can be singled out and brought in or out by clicking cells in the interface. As such it’s very easy to build tracks and the samples are both musically and sonically excellent – smooth, lush, warm and relaxing.

On the first view LoungeOramA seems to be very compact with only 20 Construction Kits. Those kits however are very comprehensive. Each kit is seperated into three subfolders: Mix, drum and backing.

Mix keeps complete loops from one kit that can be mixed and rearranged with different song parts. In this way a track can be created very fast. Nevertheless, you can‘t call that ”your own creation”. Those loops find their usage in multimedia- or filmscore or in a set of a laptop-DJ instead of musical production.

Drum contains all drum and percussion sounds, combinations as well as singleloops and -sounds. The beats are all programmed but do still groove. Thanks to the detailed structure you can easily exchange a snare or a hihat if you don‘t like the sound.

Last but not least the Backing keeps all instrumentallicks. The main instrument in this library is definetly the e-piano that was recorded with a warm amping and effects. All the other instruments such as synthesizer, guitar, e-bass, strings, etc. were recorded with effects like chorus, delay and filter. There is no dry version. The sound within a kit is very homogenous and creates the designated chill-sound. The licks are mainly longer parts with a jazzy touch which don‘t keep a solistic character. Each track is very groovy and moves between 100 and 120 BPM, so dancing is possible, too.

Lounge-Loops ohne Langweile? Ein neuer Player von Ueberschall macht’s anscheinend möglich. Gute Producer schwören auf ihre eigens kreierte Mischung aus entspannten Beats, sphärischen Flächen und akustischen Instrumenten. Doch wenn einmal die Ideen ausgehen? Speziell für Lounge-Tracks ist seit Mitte Juni 2008 endlich wieder eine ideenreiche Kollektion zu haben. Sie heißt LoungeOramA, kommt von Ueberschall und wurde von dem talentierten Danya Vodovoz produziert. Ueberschall ist in der Sample-Branche kein Unbekannter. Bereits mit der Scheibe „Easy Listening“ hat das Hannoveraner Team vor einigen Jahren Geschmack für chillige Musik bewiesen. Das neue Produkt LoungeOramA ist zwar stilistisch nicht vollkommen anders, kann aber durch ein viel komfortableres Handling überzeugen. Hier bekommt man einen Elastik-Player (VST, AU, RTAS und Standalone), mit dem man Tempo, Tonhöhe und Loop-Varianten gut unter Kontrolle hat. Mit Leib und Seele wurde vorproduziert. Keine pseudocoolen Gefilde, sondern herzhafte E-Pianos, live-gespielte Gitarren und Bässe, aparte Vintage- Synths und Grooves aus der Drummachine finden sich unter den 880 Loops und Samples der DVD. Im Vordergrund stehen 20 Construction Kits, die sich stilistisch vor allem zwischen Latin, Jazz und Soul schlängeln und manchmal einen Hauch von Electronica spüren lassen. Alle tonalen und rhythmischen Elemente der Construction Kits werden zusätzlich separat angeboten. Man kann also gezielt die besten Drumloops oder andere Rosinen herauspicken und daraus eigene Arrangements entwickeln. Das Besondere der Kits ist deren Länge von über einer Minute bei manchen Spuren. Keine abrupten Loops, sondern stilvolle Sounds können genossen werden, die ein hohes Maß an Musikalität aufweisen. Im Unterschied zu vielen anderen Trendproduktionen sind die Tracks nicht strikt loop-basiert. Vielmehr werden sie ähnlich der klassischen Formteile in Intro, Vers, Chorus und Ending unterteilt. LoungeOramA bietet eine gelungene Mischung. Sie könnte jedoch gern noch umfangreicher sein und etwas modernere Stilistiken der Loungemusik abdecken. Wie bei vielen Baukästen dieser Art läuft man Gefahr, dass Loops auch von der Konkurrenz verwendet werden. Aber dies nimmt man bei einem solchen Player gern in Kauf. Mehr davon!

Die Library vereint 800 Loops, alle mit viel sorgfalt recordet, im Stil von Lounge, Downtempo und Electronica und sanften Latin Vibes. Das Material ist in 20 Construction Kits zusammen gefasst und beinhaltet Intros, Outros, Strophen und Refrain. Stilistisch orientiert es sich sehr stark an Künstlern wie St Germain, Thievery Corporation und Morcheeba’s ruhigeren Momenten gemixt mit einer gesunden Prise von Bossa Nova und Mambo.

Jedes Kit ist aufgeteilt in drei Sektionen: Drums, Backing und ein Mix von beidem. Innerhalb jeder Sektion sind verschiedene Samples mit den einzelnen Instrumenten. LoungeOramA scheint auf den ersten Blick recht übersichtlich geraten zu sein. Nur 20 Construction Kits finden sich im Folder. Dafür fallen diese aber ziemlich umfangreich aus. Zunächst einmal teilt sich jedes Kit in drei Subfolder: Mix, Drum, Backing. Mix birgt einige komplette Loops des Kits, die wie verschiedene Songteile arrangiert und gemischt wurden. Ein Track ist damit fix zusammengestellt, aber was „Eigenes“ kann man das natürlich nicht nennen. Die Loops eigenen sich eher für den Multimedia- und Vertonungbereich oder den Laptop-DJ.

Drum beinhaltet sämtlich Drums und Percussions, sowohl als Kombinationen, wie auch als Singleloops und -sounds. Die Beats sind durchweg programmiert, grooven aber gut. Dank der detaillierten Aufgliederung kann man leicht eine Snare oder Hihat austauschen, wenn einem der Sound nicht zusagt.

Backing versammelt schließlich alle Instrumentallicks. Hauptinstrument dieser Library ist klar das E-Piano, das mit warmen Amping und Effekten aufgenommen wurde. Auch die übrigen Licks von Synthesizer, Guitar, E-Bass, Strings etc. wurden gleich mit passenden Effekten wie Chrous, Delay und Filter aufgenommen. Dry-Versionen gibt es allerdings nicht. Der Sound innerhalb eines Kits ist stets ein homogenes Bild. Die Klänge gehen ein Wechselspiel ein und erzeugen erst in der Kombination den gewünschten Chill-Sound. Die Licks sind meist längere Passagen mit jazzigem Touch, haben aber keinen ausgesprochenen Solocharakter. Alle Tracks sind sehr groovig und bewegen sich überwiegend zwischen 100 bis 120 BPM, es darf also nicht nur gechillt, sondern auch getanzt werden.
