Urbanic II is based, just as its predecessor, on Construction-Kits. But in this case we have 4 Kits for each „song“: intro, main, outro and variation - and tey all come with single lines of every instrument.

Although the arrangments are all fix which blocks the creativity, the material is top notch and the concept does its job as good as it gets - supported by a fat and real sound. In this category Ueberschall is in most of the time ahead of its competitors: It sounds complete and professionally produced. Wide, epic and melodic sounds, not the dark and aggresive HipHop from the streets.

Urbanic Producer Pack however is something completely different. Instead of Construction Kits you find a huge collection of loops- and singlesounds suiting every HipHop-Sound and sorted like a menu (percussion, keyboards, bass, acoustic-loops, etc.). This new Elastik-player based sample collection boasts some of the phattest hip-hop and RnB sounds we’ve ever heard on a sample disc. The standards are extremely high throughout this library, from the individual drum and percussion hits to the massive synth and FX loops. A lot of attention to detail has gone into this product, which results in a selection of juicy, fresh nuggets of inspiration. We would only question the usefulness of the one-shot synth sounds since the Elastik Player doesn’t allow you to play in your own musical patterns.

The Urbanic Producer Pack is devoted to Hip-Hop and RnB producers. The collection consists of almost 1000 single drum sounds and a huge amount of drum and instrumental loops.

Technically this library is based on the Elastik-Player. The samples are not availble as single files but come as elastik library. If this is a pro or a con is a up to the individual workflow. It is however possible to simply export the samples out of the player and use them in the DAW of your choice. The player offers an easy handling function to switch start and ending of a sample and to change the tempo and the pitch. (...)

The samples cover a wide spectrum of Hip Hop styles. The drumsamples take the biggest part. Here you‘ll find everything you need to build rough and dirty beats. Kicks ranging from dry and sub-deep to distorted reeverb kicks and a lot of knackling snares and crunchy claps. Here‘s everything that makes the producers heart jump up. (...)
The instrumental loops can easily be integrated. Single instrument sounds however are rare within the library it mainly comes with loops of a wide spreaded choice of instruments. (...) The Rhodes loops are convincing. As well as the choice of FX sounds that spices up every track. (...)

Right from the start you‘ll notice that Ueberschall keeps the promise of the “cutting edge“ sound. Everything sounds perfect and comes with an unbelievable power straight out of your speakers. the drums and the melodies are almost always up-to-date and could have been made by Scott Storch, Danjaheadz or Cool & Dre. Besides that they cover all the styles of modern urban music. From heavy and dark beats to club hits that revive every party. The whole package is delivered with Ueberschalls Elastik player that can be integrated as VST or Stand Alone in any sequencer and suites all the samples to your needs. Worth mentioning is also the easy way to combine the delivered material with each other. In this way even newcomer can‘t do any mistakes and will reach a good result with sound on the top level. With this library (released early 2008) Ueberschall set the benchmark for every other sample library.
Recommendable without a single doubt! The price of 100 Euro is justified.

Urbanic II basiert wie sein Vorgänger auf Construction-Kits. Allerdings gibt es hier pro „Song” gleich vier Kits: Intro, Main, Outro und Variation, jeweils mit den Einzelspuren.

Dafür hat man aber auch wirklich genug Material, denn obwohl derart festgelegte Arrangements die Kreativität deutlich hemmen, machen sie ihren Job so flexibel wie eben möglich, unterstützt durch einen astreinen, fetten und authentischen Sound. Hier hat Ueberschall in den allermeisten Fällen die Nase vor der Konkurrenz: Es klingt komplett und professionell ausproduziert. Überbreite, epische und melodische Sounds sind es hier, also nicht der ganz düstere und aggressive HipHop aus der Gosse.

Urbanic Producer Pack ist dann aber ganz anders gemacht: Statt Construction-Kits gibt es hier eine riesige Loop- und Einzelsound- Sammlung aus allen denkbaren HipHop- Sounds im Menü-Stil (Percussion, Keyboards, Bässe, Akustik-Loops etc.). So stellt man sich ganz flexibel seine eigenen Kits zusammen oder startet mehrere Instanzen zum freien Kombinieren.

Mit dem Urbanic Producer Pack wendet sich Ueberschall an Hip Hop- und RnB-Produzenten. Die Sammlung besteht aus etwa eintausend Einzelsamples und einer großen Zahl an Drum- und Instrumenten-Loops. Technisch basiert die Library auf dem bewährten Elastik-Player. Die Samples sind also nicht als einzelne Dateien erhältlich, sondern im proprietären Elastik-Format. Ob dies ein Vor- oder Nachteil ist, mag jeder für sich selbst entscheiden, allerdings kann man die Dateien jederzeit aus dem Player in eine Sequenzerspur ziehen.

Der Player bietet einfach handhabbare Funktionen, um Sample-Start, -Ende und Looplänge einzustellen und die Samples der Tonart und dem Tempo anzupassen. Dazu kann man für das Time-Stretching der Samples zwischen mehreren Algorithmen wählen. Auch ein Multimode-Resonanzfilter wird geboten, das mir persönlich etwas zu steril klang.

Klanglich deckt das Urbanic Producer Pack eine große Bandbreite an Hip Hop Styles ab. Die Drum-Sounds machen dabei den Löwenanteil aus. Hier findet sich alles, um schmutzige und schwere Beats zu bauen. Kick-Drums von trocken und ultratief bis angezerrt und mit Raumanteil versehen, über viele knackige Snares bis hin zu schönen, krachenden Claps ist alles dabei, was das Produzentenherz begehrt. Oft hat man die Wahl zwischen verschiedenen Variationen, die Abwechslung in den Beat bringen. Auch die Instrumentalsounds sind gut einsetzbar. Einzelsounds von Instrumenten finden sich allerdings eher selten in der Library, statt diesen gibt es Loops mit breit gestreuter Instrumentenauswahl. Bei den Gitarren-Loops trifft man, zumindest nach dem Geschmack des Autors, auf etwas zu viele Distortion-Sounds. Die Rhodes-Loops dagegen können wirklich überzeugen. Sehr schön ist auch die große Auswahl an FX-Klängen, mit denen sich mancher Track bestens würzen lässt. Schließlich bietet die Library auch etliche gut einsetzbare Bass-Loops, die ausschließlich synthetischen Ursprungs sind.

Genre-Libraries für Produzenten zu beurteilen, ist stets eine Frage des Geschmacks. Um fertige Loops sinnvoll und vor allem in individueller Form nutzen zu können, muss man diese schon gehörig verändern, um nicht Gefahr zu laufen, die gleichen Sounds wie andere zu nutzen. Umso praktischer, dass hier auch diverse Einzelsounds zur Verfügung stehen, insbesondere aus der Drum-Abteilung, mit denen sich eigene Produktionen auch langfristig bereichern lassen. Insgesamt gefällt der Urbanic Producer Pack gut.

Schon beim ersten Hören der Samples wird hier klar, dass Ueberschall den Mund mit den auf der Verpackung versprochenen „cutting edge“ Sounds nicht zu voll genommen hat. Alles klingt perfekt bearbeitet und kommt mit unglaublichem Druck aus den Boxen. Die Drums und Melodien sind fast ausnahmslos topaktuell und könnten direkt aus den Studios von Scott Storch, Danjahandz oder Cool & Dre kommen. Sie decken zudem das gesamte Spektrum der aktuellen Black Music ab: von harten, düsteren Beats bis zur der Musik, die jede Party zum Leben erweckt. Geliefert wird das Ganze mit dem bewährten Elastik Player, der sich über VST oder auch als Standalone Version überall problemlos einfügt und mit dem die Samples sehr benutzerfreundlich und flexibel angepasst werden können. Erwähnenswert ist auch die Kompatibilität der gelieferten Drums und Instrumente. Selbst Anfänger können nur wenig falsch machen und erzielen schnell Ergebnisse mit Klang auf Profiniveau. Mit dieser, im Frühjahr 2008 erschienen Sammlung, setzt Ueberschall den Maßstab, mit dem sich alle anderen Librarys messen müssen.
Bedenkenlos empfehlenswert! Der Preis von ca. 100 Euro ist gerechtfertigt.

Glauben sie uns, wir würden es schon schreiben, wenn Ueberschall Mist bauen würde. Bisher konnten wir die Hannoveraner aber eben noch nicht dabei erwischen, auch „Urbanic Producer Pack“, eine Loop-Sammlung für Hip-Hop und R‘n‘B-Produzenten, weiß wieder auf ganzer Linie zu punkten. Unglaublich druckvoll kommt das Material rüber, immer das gute Gefühl vermittelnd, bisher Ungehörtes auf die Musikwelt loszulassen. Eingebettet ist das Ganze wie gewohnt in den hervorragenden ELASTIK-Player und -Editor für Win und Mac.
