Back to the construction-kits: The Elastik-Player keeps the full mix on C1 and spreads the single elements on the adjacent keys that can now be played chromatically or can be new arranged. At the end of this row you will find the single drumsounds. Such a concept can be a mess if the kits sound weak. But they don‘t: With a good labeling plus tempo and scale information the samples offer a nice mix of beautiful swinging grooves from different drummachines, clicks and oings, plus a few tonal elements (blips and bimms). Who likes to work this way will find enough material here. Those of you who are looking for a huge amount of drumloops should look elsewhere.

Minimal Electro Vibes is based on the approved Construction Kit Concept. The 20 Kits are not only seperated into each single line but also come with a prefabricated Mix-Set that includes arranged patterns, intros and breaks. This set allows you to create complete tracks that will suite into a DJ-setup within minutes. As bonus on top this library offers an extra-set with wav-loops ready as Ableton Live project.

For those of you who don‘t want to use prearranged loops but only parts they can work with the singleloops or sounds. As typical for this genre the beats, bass- and synthlines were programmed minimalistic.

The sound as such is consciously not aggressive and the groove flows. Compared to other libraries of this genre the key does not lay on a maximum loudness and accented deep basslines but on a nice acoustic picture. This is exactly what makes this library so interesting.

Although there is a trend within the electronic music that heads towards opulent arrangments styles like „Minimal Electro“ and „Minimal Techno“ still have their own position. Therefore the Elastik-wrapped library hits the taste of the time and knows how to score with a perfect production - just as we are used to from the guys from Hanover, germany. Although the loops aren‘t that original the library comes with a solid base of all you need. Ideal in this library: Ueberschll delivers a complete DJ-Set for Ableton Live - an additional incentive to buy for all digital dancefloor-artists.

With so many sample sets available today, you wonder when people’s enthusiasm for them will dry up. Ueberschall, however, have found a twist to keep you on your toes. First up, this sample set comes Ableton Live ready and they’ve also thrown in Elastik – a standalone loop player.

With samples specially designed for minimal, electro, techno and tech house, Electro Vibes has a little more to offer than other sample sets.

With more than a gigabyte and a half of material there is more than enough to get the ball rolling, and to get you on your way the 20 construction kits will be a big help. Each kit includes all solo parts and drum shots used in the mix, as well as thumping bass loops and grooves plus animated sound FX all firmly aimed at the dancefloor. All 750 of the sounds can be integrated with various genres of house sample sets for extended exploitation.

The DVD also includes an Ableton Live set primed and ready to construct your own live minimal electro from the DJ booth. The Elastik loop player is also a nice touch; this flexible loop player is an inbuilt sampler that allows you to integrate the Electro Vibes samples, and then time stretch and pitch shift them to your desired sound. The integrated filter has a kill function right down to -72dB and you can adjust the BPM from 10 to 480 BPM. You also have an option to save the audio loops in original and modified forms.

The inclusion of the Live-ready set makes you look at sample sets in a different light. And while it’s not the cheapest around, there are some really interesting grooves and sounds that are well worth checking out. Especially if you like a nice electro twist to proceedings!

Verdict: If you are an Ableton Live user, this is well worth looking over. It’s also useful to mix with other house genre sets.

Zurück zu den Construction-Kits: Im Elastik-Player liegt auf C1 ein vieltaktiger Mix, dessen einzelne Elemente dann auf den folgenden Tasten chromatisch gespielt und neu kombiniert werden können. Ganz am Ende dieser Leier liegen dann noch die einzelnen Drumsounds. So ein Konzept ist dann fatal, wenn die Kits Müll sind. Sind sie aber nicht: Konstruktiv benannt und mit Tempo und Tonart versehen, bekommt man hier sehr hübsche, teilweise herrlich swingende Grooves aus allerlei Drumcomputern, Clicks und Oings, ergänzt durch einige wenige tonale Elemente (Blips und Bimms). Wer gerne so arbeitet, findet massig Material. Wer nur auf der Suche nach vielen Drumlopps ist, muss sich anderswo umsehen.

Minimal Electro Vibes setzt ebenfalls auf das bewährte Construction-Kit-Konzept. Die zwanzig Kits sind nicht nur in Einzelspuren zerlegt, sondern verfügen auch über vorgefertigte Mix-Sets, in denen sich unterschiedlich arrangierte Pattern, Intros und Breaks finden. Aus diesen Mix-Sets lassen sich mit wenigen Mausklicks im Sequenzer schnell komplette Tracks zusammenstellen, die nahtlos in ein DJ-Setup eingebunden werden können. Als Bonus bietet diese Library gerade für diese Anwendungen noch ein Extra-Set an WAV-Loops, die an Ableton Live angepasst wurden.

Wer seine Tracks nicht aus fertig gemischten Loops arrangieren und stattdessen nur Bestandteile nutzen möchte, greift auf die Singleloops zurück. Minimal-typisch wurden die Beats sowie die Bass- und Synthesizerlinien eher zurückhaltend programmiert.

Der Gesamtklang fällt bewusst nicht aggressiv aus, die Grooves gestalten sich fließend. Mit so vielen Sample Sets heutzutage ist es kein Wunder wenn der Enthusiasmus abflaut. Aber die Jungs von Ueberschall haben einen Weg gefunden die Leute beim Tanzen zu halten. Erstens kommt diese Library mit einem Ableton Live Ready Kit und zweitens haben sie den hauseigenen Sample Player Elastik als Stand Alone Version und Plugin mit in den Korb geworfen.

Mit Samples speziell gemacht für Musicstyles wie Minimal, Electro, Techno und Tech-House hat Minimal Electro Vibes mehr zu bieten als manch anderes Sample Set.

Mehr als 1,5 Gigabye Sounds bieten genug Material um die Kugel ins Rollen zu bringen und um auf den richtigen Weg zu kommen stellen die 20 Construction Kits eine große Hilfe dar. Jedes Kit beinhaltet alle Solo Parts und Drum Shots die im Mix benutzt wurden. Außerdem drückende Bässe und Grooves plus animierte Sound FX, alle mit Präzision auf den Dancefloor ausgerichtet.

Die DVD enthält darüberhinaus ein Ableton Live set. Einmal laden und direkt seine eigenen Minimal Electro Tunes von der DJ Kanzel feuern. Plus die netten Funktionen des Elastik Loop Eyes. Dieser flexible Loop Player erlaubt es jeden Sample in Sachen Tempo und Tonhöhe and die klanglichen Ideen anzupassen.

Die Intergration eines Live-Ready Sets lässt diese Sample Library in einem völlig neuen Licht erscheinen. Während es nicht gerade die preiswerteste Library ist gibt es auf jeden Fall interessante Grooves und Sounds die es wohl wert sind ausgecheckt zu werden, vor allem wenn man auf Electro steht.
