Lablechef Christian Quast (Salto & Modulator Recordings) mit Sitz in Hamburg, hat außerdem schon mehrere Releases unter BPitch Control, Safari Electronique, Ironbox und Neopren. Durch seine Arbeit hat er den Respekt und die Unterstützung von Djs wie Sven Väth, Ellen Alien, James Holden, John Digweed und Radioslave erfahren.

Sein Style ist eine einzigartige Mischung aus experimentellen modernen sounds, perkussiven Elementen und melodisch gefühlvollen Parts.

This library is damn close to the original and delivers more than enough sounds and tracks. All in all a square thing.

Sounds:
The DVD includes 24 different Construction Kits all in a range around 127 bpm so a combination of different loops is easily done. Each kit comes in different variations from backings to drums, both also played in differently. the sound is very close to the idea of Minimal-House and in his own way full of variations and nicely done. Each kit has its own instrumentation and is produced with an eye for the details.

Those who are scared when they hear „House“ should now risk their eyes and ears: The tracks, that do envelope their hypnotical effect after a while, are also a good base for more complex instrumental tracks. Fans of Minial House will receive what they are looking for. This library is damn close to the original and delivers more than enough sounds and tracks. All in all a square thing.

Veteran sample developer Ueberschall has released a new sample package entitled Minimal Techno. The sounds run on Ueberschall’s Elastik engine which allows for timestretching and pitchshifting right out of the box. They were crafted by Asem Shama and they tally up to 1200 sounds and loops across 1.6 Gigs.

Last month at the 2008 NAMM show, Ueberschall released Minimal House which was produced by Christian Quast.
I’m sure many people scoff at sample libraries that get released alongside trends in the industry, but if the demand is there then it’s these company’s jobs to make them.
And in the case of these specific libraries, they were made by people who actually release tracks of this nature already, and not some random producer’s interpretation of how this style gets broken down. I feel like it’s a good thing as long as the libraries are well produced and they live up
to the genre printed in the title. I myself am curious to try these out as i’m sure there are some useful sounds in them.

Ueberschall, Deutschlands Sampleschmiede Nr.1, veröffentlicht in einem unerhörten Tempo immer neue Libraries. Dabei ist man schon seit einiger Zeit dazu übergegangen, Samples nur noch in den Formaten für die beiden hauseigenen Player Liquid Instruments und Elastik anzubieten.

Endabnahme
Minimal House ist natürlich ein absolutes Nischenprodukt. Im Gegensatz zu landläufigem Housematerial, das man auch für Pop-, Latin- und sogar Black Music-Produktionen einsetzen kann, ist der Minimal-Stuff so gut wie nicht Crossover-fähig. Andererseits wird hier eine Sparte mit einem eigenen Titel gut bedient und nicht als Unterabteilung mit abgespeist. Diese Konsequenz ist nur zu begrüßen

Wer jedoch den Workflow, die Features und die Timestretchqualität von Elastik schätzt, bekommt mit Minimal House stilechtes Material, bei dem die (Sound)-Qualität stimmt. In Punkto Quantität hätte es ruhig etwas mehr sein dürfen. Anstelle der vielen Kombi-Loops wären weiteres Material oder Dry-Versionen der Loops sicherlich nicht nur mir willkommener gewesen.

Die Sampling-CD ist verdammt nah an der Vorlage und liefert Sounds und Tracks ohne Ende. Eine rundum lohnende Sache also.

Sounds:
Die DVD enthält 24 Baukästen – übrigens alle im selben Tempo von 127 bpm, sodass sie sich gut kombinieren lassen. Jedes Kit besteht einmal aus einem fertigen Mix in verschiedenen Variationen, aus den Backings und aus den Drums – beide ebenfalls in leicht unterschiedlichen Spielarten. Der Sound kommt dabei der Minimal-House-Idee sehr nah, ist auf seine Art sehr variantenreich und schön ausgearbeitet. Die einzelnen Bausätze sind auch schön unterschiedlich instrumentiert und mit viel Liebe zum Detail produziert. Ein paar mehr Variationen wären aber noch schöner gewesen.

Fazit:
Wer bisher beim Stichwort „House“ zurückschreckte, darf jetzt gern mal Auge und Ohr riskieren: Die Tracks, die tatsächlich mit der Zeit ihre gewünschte hypnotische Wirkung entfalten, lassen sich auch gut als Grundlage für komplexere Instrumentalnummern verwenden. Fans von Minimal House kommen dann sowieso auf ihre Kosten: Die Sampling-CD ist verdammt nah an der Vorlage und liefert Sounds und Tracks ohne Ende. Eine rundum lohnende Sache also.

In dem speziellen Fall wurden die Libraries sogar von Leuten produziert die sich in dem Genre bewegen und bereits mehrere Tracks veröffentlicht haben, nicht irgendwelche Produzenten die analysieren und interpretieren.

Letzten Monat hat Ueberschall "Minimal House" veröffentlicht, produziert von Christian Quest. Ich kann mir vorstellen das viele Leute nur Hohn und Spott übrig haben für Libraries die einem klaren Trend folgen aber wenn die Nachfrage da ist, so ist es der Job der Industrie ihn zu stillen.
